Onslaught News and Rakghoul Resurgence

Yesterday it was announced that the expansion, Onslaught will be released on October 22nd. So excited that there’s finally a release date. The funny thing is a few days ago my brother and I were talking about how it’s late August and they still haven’t given an official time for the expansion. He jokingly said, ‘Watch in a few days they’ll tell us it doesn’t come out until October’.

Low and behold, I wake up to the news that Onslaught comes out in October. I busted out laughing and told him about it and he’s like, ‘I told you!’ All kidding aside I am glad they pushed it back a month because I would rather wait longer than have them rush the release and have a slew of problems.

Now if only Her Interactive would announce a release date for Midnight in Salem. (Update: Somehow I missed the official release date for MID. The game will be coming out on November 19th.)

That being said, today is the beginning of the Rakghoul Resurgence event. It will last between the 27th to September 3rd. This will be my second time participating in the event. I had a lot of fun the last time, so I’m looking forward to it again.

Last time it took place on Corellia, this time it is on good old Alderaan. I’m guessing everyone already knows what the Rakghoul Resurgence is all about, but just in case you’re new or haven’t done the event yet, I’ll give a brief rundown.

The Rakghoul Resurgence event is when the Rakghoul plague spreads out of control onto a number of planets, infecting the populace.

THORN sets up camp and tries to stem the tide of the plague and help the infected. You can volunteer for them and they’ll send you to the Rakghoul tunnels to do several quests where you gain reputation points and gear from them.

If you are at a high enough level you can do most of the quests by yourself if you prefer to play solo, but you’ll definitely need help doing the heroics. Depending on the time of day it’s easy to find others willing to group up.

I ran the Rahghoul Resurgence a number of times grouping up and playing solo on several of my characters. It’s always best to have a least one healer in your group.

One thing I did that I’m sure everyone has done was purposely get myself infected and watched as the plague went through several stages before finally killing me. My sister got a kick out of it and we both probably had way too much fun watching me slowly die. It was worth it though.

So, have you ever ran the Rakghoul event? What’s you’re favorite part about it? How excited are you that Onslaught has an official release date?
