Life In Cloud City

It’s been a little over two weeks since Star Wars the Old Republic officially moved all of their servers to Amazon’s Web Service. Leviathan was the first to move to the cloud with Star Forge and Satele Shan last.

When they moved the Leviathan server, I periodically checked the forums and reddit to see if there had been any trouble with the transfer, but beyond a couple of comments it largely seemed to go unnoticed.

When Tulak Hord and Darth Malgus were transferred two weeks later the move again seemed to be mostly smooth. All though if my memory is correct, I think they did have to do maintenance on Darth Malgus a couple days afterwards, but the issues were resolved.

By this time, I was extremely curious how my own server’s transfer would go since not many people seemed to notice the change. There were a few concerns from some that they would lose everything if a slight hiccup occurred during the move. Thankfully, that didn’t happen to anyone as far as I’m aware.

I’ve had time to play on Star Forge these past two weeks and I would say that my ping is slightly better and there are certain areas in the game that run smoother now. Other than that, there hasn’t been a major difference and no problems so far. So, I would call it a success.

I did notice after the transfer that I had to enable exploration missions all over again on all my characters which is a little annoying, but it’s a minor issue compared to what could have happened.

For those who may be wondering why the move was even necessary according to the developers it was to ensure more stable gameplay and less need for back-end support. This past year alone Star Forge has seen a lot of outages, so hopefully having the servers on the cloud will help with those type of issues.

We don’t know yet if they intend anything more now that they are using AWS, but I am hoping this will lead to more servers, especially for Aussie players who would no doubt love to have a server with better ping.

Places I Would Love to See Added to Swtor

Now that it’s finally cooled down a bit where I live, I’m trying to get back into the habit of playing Swtor and blogging. I wanted to do a fun post about things I would like to see added to the game someday. To start off with there are three planets I would love to be added to Swtor with a dailies section.

1. Dathomir

I’ve been fascinated by Dathomir and the Nighsisters since watching The Clone Wars, so I absolutely want to visit this planet. I’m not sure if the concept of the Nightsisters exists during the Old Republic era, so I don’t know if the devs would be able to add them to the game or not. It would be interesting if they could explore the beginnings of the Nightsisters before they became the powerful witches, we know from the Clone Wars.

2. Kashyyyk

At this point I just have to ask why Kashyyyk isn’t in Swtor by now? The Wookiee planet is one of the most iconic places in the Star Wars universe. So, it really puzzles me as to why we still don’t have Kashyyyk. It’s possible there are some legal issues involved, but it’s one of my favorite planets to visit in Kotor and I really would like to see it added if possible.

3. Malachor

I would actually prefer Malachor V to be added to Swtor, but that planet is in a gray area since in Kotor 2 on the light side the planet was destroyed. We could perhaps visit the ruins of the planet. If that’s not possible than Malachor would be a good alternative. I think a smaller area tied to the main story would be an interesting way to visit the place.

What planets, pets, etc. would you like to see added to Swtor? Let me know in the comments below.

The Shrine of Silence Is Really Good

I was surprised when I finished the Interpreter’s Retreat and wasn’t alerted to do the new flashpoint immediately. I think it’s been a long time since we’ve had an fp that wasn’t tied to the story.

The Shrine of Silence has to be one of the best flashpoints we’ve had in a long while. I can easily see myself going back to run it many times and the trash mobs aren’t nearly as overwhelming as the last few flashpoints have been. It’s not the shortest on the list and if you’re going for the extra boss fights it will take some time, but it’s still relatively short compared to the previous flashpoints and the trash mobs will be easy to power through.

The shrine has a spooky atmosphere that I absolutely loved and reminded me a little of Indiana Jones. When The Curse started talking to my character(s) like it was trying to lure me into a trap it added to the creepy ambience. I especially appreciated the puzzle as it feels like it’s been a while since we’ve had any added to the game. The holes in the floor could be problematic to some. I almost fell into the abyss a time or two, so I recommend watching your step.

The final boss fight was pretty good all though the first time I ran it in story mode I had the GSI droid with me and that made it too easy. So, my second time through I dismissed the droid to try making it more challenging and found it much more fun. I have yet to run it in veteran mode, but I’m looking forward to it.

Overall, this was a solid flashpoint that I thoroughly enjoyed and will definitely be going back to for the foreseeable future. The devs out did themselves and I’m hoping to see more like The Shrine of Silence since a lot of the last few flashpoints haven’t been fun to replay. I’m looking at you Spirit of Vengeance.

Old Wounds A Review

Once again, I have to apologize for how long it has taken me to get this review out. My internet crashed and burned shortly after the 7.3 story update came out and I wasn’t able to update the game for a week. And now we are going through a heatwave with temperatures getting up to 110 degrees Fahrenheit. Since my laptop gives off a lot of heat, I’ve been avoiding playing any games. It looks like the heatwave is here to stay for the rest of the summer, so I switched to playing early in the mornings.

Old Wounds was not nearly as cinematic as the last update, but it still had a few cutscenes that were interesting to watch. Depending on which side you are on we see a cutscene with Darth Rivix or Tau Idair. Darth Rivix is becoming quite the interesting character. I knew from the moment we met him that he was intelligent, but he has been showing his more devious side lately. Since The Dark Descent I have suspected him of having ulterior motives for joining the alliance and won’t be the least surprised if this is later revealed. I first began to suspect that there was more to him when I played The Dark Descent on my BH. Going down the saboteur route I told him to let Captain Meinar go and his response was to narrow his eyes and force choke the captain. When my BH confronted him, he acted all apologetic and claimed he didn’t know his own strength. I busted out laughing because his response was so funny.
So, it didn’t surprise me at all when he tricked a Sith named Lord Sovu into a trap, taking the opportunity to get rid of a rival. If anything, it continues to intrigue me just how cunning Darth Rivix is turning out to be.

There was another cutscene with Sa’har and Ri’kan as she tried to encourage her brother to use the force by moving a datapad. He briefly tried and became angry when he failed. Afterwards Heta Kol and her retainers showed up where she gave a speech and then revealed the datacron Sa’har had given her would play an essential part in her plans. She went on to say that only her and Sa’har would know all the details much to a visibly angry Ri’kan’s consternation. In his anger he was able to use the force to move the datapad. Now I found this whole scene fascinating. First, it’s clear that Ri’kan can use the force (technically we already knew he could from the trailer) all though he has to experience strong emotions before he can. Could this be the reason why Denolm Orr didn’t sense anything in him or is something more going on? Perhaps he did sense force sensitivity in him, but determined it wasn’t much. It’s also possible he thought he wouldn’t make a good Jedi because he had too much anger in him much like the Jedi didn’t want to train Anakin regardless of whether or not he was the chosen one.

Another question I ask myself is why would Heta be interested in a holocron that is meant to find those sensitive to the force? The only answer I can come up with is that she wants to find them and use them to further the glory of the Mandalorians. I’m probably way off base here, but it’s the only probable explanation I can come up with right now. Feel free to leave a comment below and share your thoughts on what you think her motivations might be for the holocron.

Perhaps it’s just me, but I honestly thought Shae Vizla was coming off slightly unhinged as she demanded to speak to Darth Malgus. I can’t help wondering if she’s a loose cannon that’s about to explode. I know the thing with Heta has been getting to her, but she really seemed to be going off the deep end and I’m wondering if she’ll end up doing something foolish in a desperate attempt to end her rival.

I very much enjoyed the interaction between my character and Darth Malgus, especially once he figured out Shae was giving me advice. I thought the conversation was much better than the last one and depending on your character’s questions he does reveal some things, though admittedly not much. When he told us that we were the only ones who could understand him and that it was too bad we would always remain enemies I definitely had a fan girl moment. Some of my Imperial characters have wanted to join forces with him since Ilum and so far, we’ve only had that brief team up on Ossus. His reaction when I replied that some things change was great. I am trying to temper my expectations because as much as I would love to join forces with him, it’s probably not going to happen.

It was interesting to discover that Darth Nul was a former Jedi named Master Raniah. All though I am a little confused as to whether the Mirialan shown in the cut-scene was in fact Master Raniah. I’m assuming that was her. In the reveal we discover that Master Raniah was expelled from the order because she had the unique ability to connect minds with others. She ended up connecting with the emperor’s mind (because that was a great idea) and he turned her to the dark side and made her students the Children of the Emperor. I’m glad to know how the Children of Emperor came to be and it makes it even more intriguing when we know he sent them out throughout the galaxy as spies. You would think the Jedi would learn from their mistakes by now that the Sith will always take advantage of those they expel from the Jedi Order.

After that we head to Voss to talk to the Three, but they won’t see us unless we make ourselves useful. A new area of Voss was added with the update, and I ran around running errands, trying to help out. It turns out that some of the Gormak believed the truce with the Voss wouldn’t last so they made a deal with Czerka that backfired on them because of course Czerka can’t be trusted. I liked most of the quests, all though I do question the one where I help out in the kitchen since I’m not entirely sure how that helps. Maybe the troops need to be well fed to push back Czerka? After I did a bunch of favors the Three were willing to see me.

The Three’s reception was rather chilled towards both my BH and my Jedi Knight. The BH I can kind of understand since I gave the device, I found to the Gormak, but the less than welcoming reception towards my knight was a surprise since I did everything they wanted. I’m guessing maybe I did something way back in the story they didn’t approve of, but for the life of me I can’t remember my decisions. Maybe they just didn’t like the fact that the fate of their world rests on my character.

Anyway, the mystics saw a vision that Darth Malgus would shake the foundation of the galaxy and if he dies their vision will come to pass sooner. They also said that our character’s decision will determine the fate of them all. So, it looks like once again my character will be saving the galaxy. What I find the most interesting is that it almost sounds like we might have to save Darth Malgus in order to prevent a greater catastrophe from happening. It also leads me to wonder if this means we might get a chance to redeem or at least change his mind about his plans. Honestly, at this point I have no idea what will happen. I have more questions than answers and as always, the Three and the mystics were deliberately vague about their vision. So, at this point anything could happen.

Either way I thought this was a pretty solid update and I look forward to what comes next.

Swtor Moving from BioWare to Broadsword and Why This Could Be a Good Thing

Yikes! I didn’t realize just how long it’s been since I last blogged until I logged into wordpress. I want to apologize for accidentally going on hiatus, it wasn’t my intention. My old computer was well…getting really old and would sometimes take forever deciding if it wanted to turn on let alone play Swtor. The last few expansions were especially a strain on the graphics card in spite of using compatibility mode.

I managed to play Showdown on Ruhnuk with some difficulty and intended to write my first impressions, but it’s been long enough that I would need to go over my notes and play it again to refresh my memory. Since the new story 7.3 Old Wounds has been announced and will be coming out on June 13th there’s probably no point in it.

I now have a new gaming laptop that plays Swtor really well and I look forward to being able to play the game without serious lag issues. I’ve actually had the new laptop for several months now, but low and behold just when I thought I could enjoy gaming again I ran into a slew of technical issues that have taken awhile for me to resolve. The issues are not completely gone, but I’m now able to log into Swtor successfully most of the time.

With that being said, I wanted to talk about the bombshell news that dropped a couple days ago. As most probably already know EA has decided to move Swtor away from BioWare and give it to Broadsword Online. I’ve been seeing a lot of panic and anger since this announcement, and many seem to think this is the end. I don’t know what the future holds, so I can’t say what will happen to Swtor long term, but I honestly don’t think the game will be going into maintenance mode any time soon. I prefer to be optimistic and believe that everything will be okay and having a company that has more experience with mmo’s will improve Swtor.

I am a little worried about the fact that only half the development team will be making the move over to Broadsword and wonder who will make the cut so to speak. I also wonder how the ongoing story, which admittedly is the main reason why I play Swtor, will be affected. My hope is that this change will improve upcoming expansions.

I’ve also been seeing an awful lot of sentiment that this is bad for Bioware while good for Swtor and I’m not entirely sure I agree. I understand where this belief is coming from since it has been a while since they came out with a single player game. Dragon Age: Dreadwolf will hopefully be coming out sometime next year now that they are in the final stages of development and we know that they have another Mass Effect game in the works, though that won’t be out for a few more years. Everyone is absolutely right that they will no longer be able to rely on Swtor’s income to support their studio, but again I think that could be a good thing.

I have long wanted BioWare to go back to their roots and make just single player games again. We all know about the disaster that was Anthem, so I won’t bore you all to tears by rehashing that old chestnut. All though I should mention that Anthem is still playable if anyone’s curious and wants to pick it up. The fan base is very dedicated and would no doubt love to see more players. The game is also frequently on sale so I would recommend picking it up then.

One of the things I was happy about was when it was announced that DA:D wouldn’t have multiplayer, which I honestly think is a waste of time and resources for BioWare. Andromeda’s story is pretty good in my opinion in spite of the multiplayer component, but I thought Inquisition suffered because of it. The main campaign is really short, and they tried to stretch the game out longer by filling it with a lot of fetch quests. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind side quests, but when there’s more side content and very little story the game feels like it’s lacking.

So, in my opinion the fact that Dreadwolf won’t have multiplayer and BioWare will now have to rely on making single player games for their income could end in disaster or it could turn the company around and give them incentive to make great games again. Obviously, I’m rooting for the latter. The way I see it, this could be a good thing for both Swtor and BioWare, but I suppose only time will tell how this all plays out.

Dailies on Manaan

Starting out the Manaan dailies for the first time introduces a short story of what your character is doing in that area and how you’re helping your chosen faction. I liked the story from both sides, but I really liked the Republic side better, which is unusual for me. Lately, I’ve been feeling like the light side of the story is lacking and the dark side gets the better storyline. It’s something I’ve discussed with others before so, I’m glad the Republic side was engaging this time.

I didn’t realize how much I actually missed butting heads with diplomats on the light side. So, when we were introduced to Minn Ishkah I was happy to once again be able to ruin a diplomat’s day. She wasn’t bad at her job or anything, but like all ambassadors she wanted what was best for the Republic over the Selkath in spite of the fact we were in their territory. I found it very amusing when I received mail from Master Gnost Dural warning my Jedi about her and thought you’re a bit late. I’ve already disappointed her twice.

On the Imperial side, I had a lot of fun with my saboteur. It was hilarious how Commander Qrukk was going on about what a disaster our push on Manaan had been and I kept saying something along the lines of yep, you all dropped the ball when in fact I had been the reason for the disaster in the first place. I really got a kick out of how I could bad mouth everyone for the mess I made. Nothing like blustering to draw attention away from yourself. I liked Wo Kasto on both sides of the story and wouldn’t mind seeing him again on my saboteur, but that’s probably not likely since I sent him packing to the Republic.

One thing I was surprised about was how no daily resource matrices or tech fragments dropped after completing the dailies. I wasn’t sure if that was a glitch or intentional, but the devs released the patch notes today for the 7.1a update that we would now be rewarded with daily resource matrices, tech fragments, and the weekly daily area will drop gear. I’m guessing it was a bug since they’re adding in the rewards.

I took a look at the reputation vendor and the decorations are really nice. I could use them for my Manaan stronghold. Two things that are a must have is the cute cerulean turtle. I will need to get champion reputation before I can add the pet to my collection, and I also want to get The Waterlogged title because that seems really appropriate while on Manaan. I won’t be able to get that one until I’ve reached Legend, so for the next couple weeks I’ll be grinding out rep.

I think the dailies and heroics on Manaan are good. There are three areas to do the quests in and the map isn’t too big or overwhelmingly confusing. The dailies are not grouped too far apart from each other and the enemies spawn quickly, so it doesn’t feel like you’re competing with the other faction and shared tagging comes in handy. Overall, I like the size of the map and the areas are nice. The devs did a good job creating each area to look unique. I think it’s a fun place that I won’t mind revisiting often whenever I want to grind out dailies.

Digging Deeper Review

I was pleasantly surprised by how long the latest story update was for a non-expansion. It was still short, but so much better than the very short conversations between companions we’ve been getting lately. I suspect Digging Deeper was originally part of the LoTS expansion that was later cut.

It was really nice seeing Talos Drellik back in the field again. I felt like he was wasted as an alliance alert since we didn’t really have him studying many archeological finds. He’s one of my favorite companions from the Inquisitor origin story and I would love it if he were around more. Maybe now that he’s studying the ruins on Elom he’ll have his chance to shine.
I was surprised when it was revealed that Darth Nul wasn’t just one of the Children of the Emperor but was the very first one. I’ve had so many questions since they were revealed in both the Consular and Jedi Knight origin stories and maybe now some of these questions will be answered. Of course, with this new reveal I have even more questions. Why did the emperor discard Darth Nul? Was she getting too ambitious or had her usefulness simply run its course? Did she seek revenge? At this point I will not be surprised if it turns out she has been alive and imprisoned all this time. Or possibly dead but brought back to life accidentally or on purpose. It would make a great story if the next person we have to deal with is one of the Children of the Emperor. I was a little disappointed when nothing more was done about them, so maybe now we’ll get to learn more.

I am even more curious and confused about where in the world we sent Arcann. Like many others I thought we were sending him to Elom. I guess I’m going to have to get another character up to speed on the story and rewatch the scene because I really don’t remember where we sent him. But now that we have the option to send Sana-Rae to help him this makes me think the devs are gearing up for a big reveal. My guess is it has something to do with Darth Nul. Either they are going to find a powerful artifact or possibly even the Sith Lord herself.

Some time ago I speculated what they were going to do about the brewing Mandalorian civil war. I did raise the possibility that Heta Kol and the mandos could have a bigger impact on the story, but if I’m going to be completely honest, I wasn’t expecting them to tie it into the main story. So, I was very surprised when it turned out that the person Sa’har’s brother was taking her to was Heta Kol. Now I’m more curious than ever about what Heta Kol is up to and how Sa’har and her brother will fit in all of this.
I’m still rooting for Darth Malgus to escape. I was hoping we would get a short interlude with him, and I wasn’t disappointed. I have to say I really feel sorry for the guy. He’s overly ambitious and will no doubt do more terrible things, but a small part of me just can’t help feeling sorry that he is once again put in a cage. I felt bad for him when it was revealed that Empress Acina/Emperor Vowrawn had tight control over him. And now I feel bad that he’s been captured again.
I’m wondering if we’ll have any more interrogation scenes to try to get him to reveal anything else because I get the feeling, he’s holding back a lot. Namely his entire plan and what exactly he was trying to do with the datacron. It was suggested in a conversation between your companions that he was wanting to use it to control his followers, but I have a sneaking suspicion that there’s more to it than that.

I really liked this story update. It was short but a lot was revealed, and I can’t wait until the next update to find out what happens next.

My Review of Legacy of the Sith

Shortly after I started Legacy of the Sith on Imp side, I encountered a bug during the Fortification quest where I was supposed to take control of a submersible droid. Somehow, I was teleported to a part of the game we weren’t supposed to see. At first, I didn’t know what was wrong. I thought for some reason the game had glitched as none of the doors would open to let me continue, so I logged out thinking that would help. When I logged back in, I was still stuck in the room with no way out. Stumped, I went to the forums to see if anyone had encountered this bug and that’s when I discovered I was in a room that was outside the room I was supposed to be in, and the game had accidentally taken me behind the scenes.

I kind of thought it was cool that I was in a place that couldn’t be seen beyond looking at it through a window. I freely admit I put off trying the solution others in the forums were suggesting and explored the room a little more because when the devs fixed the bug it was unlikely to happen again. I wish I had taken a screenshot, but I didn’t think of it at the time. It looked like a storage area where a bunch of equipment and crates were being kept. Eventually, I tried the fix that was suggested and traveled to my ship, then relaunched the mission. The solution thankfully worked, and I was teleported to the correct location.

Controlling the submersible droid was a lot of fun. It would have been even better if we had been allowed to put on a suit like in Kotor, but it was still awesome exploring underwater.
I had to laugh when I started planting mines and thought to myself, it’s no wonder Selkath dislike outsiders. Every chance they get an outsider blows something up and destroys their ecosystem.

Darth Norok is easily my favorite npc that was introduced in this expansion. He was so comical I legit couldn’t breathe because I was laughing so hard. He was so full of himself that he actually seemed to think he walked on water. Even when my bounty hunter encountered him locked up, he acted like his capture had been some kind of fluke that could never happen again.
He delivered every line as if he were on a stage and expected everyone to hang on to every word he said. I bet the actor had a lot of fun playing the part. I was very disappointed when I had to fight him after destroying the gunship. Since he can be killed, he won’t be significant to the story going forward. I was really hoping Darth Norok would be sticking around just so I could listen to him continue to deliver his lines in an overly dramatic fashion.

Another character I found interesting was Colonel Korrd. Something was definitely up with the guy as he deflected and obfuscated the mission at every turn. To have him defy a Sith and then pretend said Sith was giving him orders was really gutsy and I hope we see more of him in the future. There aren’t nearly enough characters from Imperial Intelligence that stand up to Sith and try to undermine them while doing what they believe is best for the Empire.

I also have to say I am enjoying playing a saboteur, though I can’t help wondering if sooner or later they intend to have the saboteurs found out. My guess is probably not, but the idea that my bounty hunter could be discovered as a traitor at any moment is an interesting concept.
All though next time my BH needs to contact Jonas Balkar, she should really do it in a more secure location and not some place where anyone could wander in and see what she’s doing. If the devs ever decide to do anything special for the saboteurs, my only hope is that Major Anri never finds out. She seems pretty devoted to the Empire and is always talking about how my bounty hunter is one of the good ones who gets things done. I have the feeling she would make a very intense enemy.

Ruins of Null was a pretty good flashpoint. I didn’t run into any problems, though I know a lot of players ran into a glitch where they couldn’t defeat Darth Malgus. I haven’t seen anyone talk about it in awhile, so I don’t know if the bug was fixed or not.

At the end of the flashpoint when all the force users were working together to keep Darth Malgus down, I was honestly rooting for him to escape and fight another day. But they captured him and then showed the padawan retrieving the datacron while Malgus was monologuing, which has me very intrigued about where they will go next with the story.

Still, I would love it if Darth Malgus has a few more tricks up his sleeve and continues to be the next big bad for awhile. One thing I absolutely loved was when I showed up and Malgus was like ‘not you again.’ Yep, for once I’m the one who keeps returning like a bad penny and ruining everyone’s day.

On pub side I liked Colonel Gallo and her personality. I’m hoping we see more of her. Unfortunately, you do have the option to leave her behind to die. So, she may not have a big part to play going forward, but since I’m sure most light side players will keep her alive, I would like to see her return.

The end fight with Major Dosk was hilarious. Not only did he sound a little unhinged in the end, but he was so put out I busted out laughing. For a npc who didn’t have many lines he is unforgettable. I’m not sure what to think of Admiral Rava. He clearly has history with Colonel Gallo that I would like to know more about. He wasn’t very happy when I saved the Colonel and her team instead of the kolto. I’m curious to know if he will play a larger role in upcoming updates.

I thought Legacy of the Sith was a pretty solid expansion if a little too short, but that seems to be the norm now. I’m looking forward to the dailies on Manaan in the 7.1 update and the next installment in the story.

A Quick Update

Since the beginning of this year, I have been feeling really burnt out playing Swtor, but because of 7.0 coming out I continued to play every day. Eventually, I became so sick of grinding for better gear and leveling up my characters I decided to take a break. I meant to only take a month-long break, but as more time passed the less, I felt inclined to log in. I had a few blog posts in the works, including my thoughts on the latest story introduced in the game and I kept putting them off because I knew if I continued blogging, I would feel obligated to log in.

So, for these past few months I have been playing a bunch of single player games. A couple weeks ago I decided to return to Swtor in August. Which worked out because shortly after that the devs made the announcement that the 7.1 update would come out on August second as well as the return of Nar Shaddaa Nightlife, one of my favorite events.

I think the reason I was so burnt out by the game was because I was getting on every day for years and spending several hours playing Swtor almost exclusively. Going forward to prevent this from happening I’m going to shake things up a bit and try not to fall into the same routine of doing the same stuff over and over again. I’m also going to make time to continue playing other games. I may start playing a secondary mmo, maybe Lord of the Rings Online, but I’m not sure yet if I want to do that. Swtor will remain my main mmo as long as it exists but having a second game to fall back to may help keep my enthusiasm for Swtor alive.

I would also like to start logging into the characters I have on the Satele Shan and Darth Malgus servers because at the moment they are collecting dust. I think two of them on Satele Shan are level seventy, which tells you how long it’s been since I’ve been active on that server.

I will be coming out with a review of Legacy of the Sith before 7.1 launches. I just need to go over my notes and refresh my memory and will have it out in the next day or two.

My Thoughts on Galactic Seasons

Season two of the Galactic Seasons is underway, and I thought now would be a good time to compare the differences between season one and two. First, I should say I never completed season one. I did try, but after about three weeks of grinding the same missions, I couldn’t take it anymore and just stopped all together. Any time I tried to reroll to get something new I usually ended up getting more of the same.

Even stranger, in spite of the fact that nearly everyone had to kill seventy-five colicoids on a daily basis, none of us ever seemed to be assigned the same planet. It was the same with operations. Anyone who had an ops they needed to do, had a hard time finding a group because others had been given a different op or only had warzones and galactic starfighter on the list.

Season two is much better in comparison. Everyone shares the same objectives so it’s not hard to find someone to group up with and they’re not the same objectives over and over again. It’s also nice that the devs branched out beyond killing x amount of colicoids. Some of the objectives can be completed without even being aware they were on the list. I was really surprised when I was on my low level Sith warrior, killing acolytes on Korriban when a completed objective popped up. When I looked it up the achievement was titled Still Got It and required you to kill twenty-five people without a companion. As amusing as I found it, I couldn’t help thinking it was a wasted opportunity. I can imagine the number of players who went to starter or low-level planets to complete this objective. It would have been far more interesting if we could only complete it in certain areas that would present a challenge.

Since I do dailies and heroics often, I do like how so far different dailies/heroics have been showing up on the season objectives each week. All though I’m not a fan of the fact that I don’t have easy access of all of them anymore. I can understand why they designed it that way. It does make it easier to know which ones will give more rewards, but it does require extra steps now to get to some of the heroics no longer on the list. I like the little clock feature they added to these missions, including the color scheme that allows us to know how long we have before they reset. The devs did announce a while ago that they will be adding all dailies and heroics back on the rotation due to player feedback.

Some of the rewards we get from Galactic Seasons are pretty good. The mounts and weapons will come in handy, though I’m not too sure about the outfits. I’m not impressed with their design and don’t see me using them anytime in the future.

So, I’d say so far season two is good and has continued to hold my interest. I’m one token away from being able to afford to buy a fleet stronghold. At first, I wasn’t going to buy one because I already have too many strongholds that are sparsely decorated as it is, but my curiosity has won out. I’m going to buy it on pub side to see how I like it.

I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts on Galactic Seasons so far. Be sure to comment below!
